Read to Raise - Student and Family Flyer.pdfDear Gator Families,
At Savannah Elementary, we believe in being the heart of our community and at the heart of our community are the brave men and women who have served our country. This Veterans Day, we are honored to recognize and celebrate the heroes among our Gator families.
Our Teach Denton Program is proudly coordinating this year’s Veterans Day celebration, with the goal of honoring the veterans who have made a lasting impact on our students, families, and community.
If your student has a veteran in their family, we invite you to complete our Veterans Day Form linked below. The form allows families to share the veteran’s name, branch of service, military photo, and connection to your student to be displayed on the Honor Wall. Veterans are also welcome to opt in to participate in our Veterans Day Parade at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11th, followed by a light brunch with their student. The form will close Friday, October 31st at 3:00pm.
This special event is our way of saying thank you for the courage, sacrifice, and service that protect the freedoms we hold dear. We hope you’ll help us make this a memorable celebration that reflects the pride and gratitude of our entire Gator community.

 October SHout Out.pdf
October SHout Out.pdfDenton ISD values parent/guardian partnership in learning. We support parents/guardians as the primary educators of their children. As a parent/guardian, you have the right to preview all education material. If you would like to request that your child NOT attend one of the above presentations, please contact Jenn Runion (School Counselor) at jrunion@dentonisd.org.

If you have questions or would like to meet with me, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My email is jrunion@dentonisd.org or there is more information on the SES Counselor's website
Thank you for allowing me to partner with you to support your child’s academic and emotional success!
A NOTE ON BIRTHDAYS:
We are happy to celebrate your child's birthday at school. We allow parents to send birthday trinkets for their child's class if they want, however, WE DO NOT ALLOW BIRTHDAY TREATS or FOODS. Cupcakes/cake/candy etc. compete with healthy meals and snacks and may affect students with food allergies. We will not serve them.
Special Areas rotations will shift beginning October 15th for the 2nd Nine Weeks.
Be sure to know what day your Gators have P.E. and when they need their Library books! (Though Mrs. Holt recommends they have their books at school EVERY day!)
We are needing donations of every day items you have at home! Items can be sent in any time from now until MARCH!
Don't Forget to Sign Up:
Our goal is for 100% of Savannah families to complete the application—even if you think you won’t qualify. Why? Because the more families who apply, the better chance we have of qualifying for free meals for all students during the 2025–2026 school year! Don't forget you must reapply each year!
Apply here or using the button below.
It will prompt you to sign up for a SchoolCafe account first (or sign in if you already have an account from last year), then you click on the benefits link within.
