Hello, Savannah families!
Per the Informed Consent for School-Based Counseling and Support Services. SB 12 (2025) it now requires parent or guardian permission for students to receive the same counseling, and social services support we've always provided. Further information can be found on the consent form in the link below.
Please follow the link and fill out the consent form: https://forms.dentonisd.org/Forms/ConsentforSchoolBasedMentalHealthServices
*You will need your child's ID number to complete the online form.
Paper forms are available by request.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Runion at jrunion@dentonisd.org.
Visitors
In order to allow our students to acclimate to school, we will be closed for lunch and volunteer guests until September 2nd. After this time, all guests who have passed a background check are welcome to visit for lunch or volunteer. The background check form is linked below. Remember this must be renewed each year.
Free & Reduced Lunch Applications are now open. Don't forget you must reapply each year!
Our goal is for 100% of Savannah families to complete the application—even if you think you won’t qualify. Why? Because the more families who apply, the better chance we have of qualifying for free meals for all students during the 2025–2026 school year!
Apply here or using the button below.
It will prompt you to sign up for a SchoolCafe account first (or sign in if you already have an account from last year), then you may click on the benefits link within.
A NOTE ON BIRTHDAYS:
We are happy to celebrate your child's birthday at school. We allow parents to send birthday trinkets for their child's class if they want, however, WE DO NOT ALLOW BIRTHDAY TREATS or FOODS. Cupcakes/cake/candy etc. compete with healthy meals and snacks and may affect students with food allergies. We will not serve them.

Unlock the love of learning
Lets explore how we can learn and grow together this year at Savannah's curriculum night! Each grade will host two sessions starting at 6:00pm so you can attend sessions for multiple children in different grade levels. Information from the night will be shared with parents by teachers if you are unable to attend. We look forward to seeing you there.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Holland Smith, and I’m excited to welcome your student to Elementary PE this year at Savannah Elementary School. The purpose of this email is to provide you with the instructional plan for the course, including key information about what your student will learn, how the course is structured, and how learning will be assessed throughout the semester.
Course Description:
In Texas, Elementary Physical Education (PE) for Kindergarten through Grade 5 focuses on developing fundamental movement skills, promoting physical activity, and fostering positive attitudes towards health and fitness. Students learn basic motor skills, understand how the body functions during physical activity, and begin to develop body control and awareness of fitness components. The curriculum also incorporates strategies, rules, and conflict resolution techniques relevant to physical activity.
Course Overview and Instructional Materials:
Assessment Plan:
Students will demonstrate their learning through a variety of assessments each grading period. Each grading period consists of 3 major assessments of essential knowledge and skills.
More specific information will be shared with students in class.
Sincerely,
Holland Smith
Hello Gator Families!
Many students are beginning to checkout Library books this week, which means many of them will be bringing them home to read with you in the evenings. A few quick reminders about Library books!
Please make sure Library books are returned to school each day. We want students to have access to their books both at home and at school. Plus this prevents books accidentally being left or lost at home on a Library day!
Please help students remember to keep books in a safe place in their backpacks. Water bottles should NEVER be in the main compartment of backpacks with books. They will end up leaking.
Should a book get damaged or wet accidentally, please have your student bring it to the Library at their first opportunity. We will do all we can to save the book!
If a book is lost and cannot be found or damaged to the point that it is no longer readable, a replacement fee for that book is assessed. This is always the last resort. We would much rather have a book returned that collect a fee.
Students who owe replacement fees or have overdue books will not be able to checkout additional titles until those account issues are resolved.
If you ever have a question about your student's library materials, please reach out to me!
Don't forget to follow the Savannah Library on Facebook to keep up with all the fun things we get to do: https://www.facebook.com/SavannahLibrary/
I am so excited to get books in the hands of our Gator readers again!
