Savannah 2025-2026 Parent & Family Engagement Plan
What is it?
Savannah Elementary is committed to our vision: Our school exists to prepare students for the future by ensuring they are safe, kind, and learning each day. Savannah Elementary will be a collaborative community of excellence that produces high levels of achievement for ALL. We strive to provide high-quality education individualized for each student by developing and maintaining relationships with families and the community. One way we continue to do this is by participating in the Title I, Part A Program. This program provides federal funding for low socioeconomic schools. In return, we are committed to meeting expectations of the program laid out for us by the Texas Education Agency and the United States Department of Education.
Funding
Title I funds will be allocated for the implementation of the Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) program. Such programs, activities, and procedures will be planned and implemented with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children.
Review
All use of funding and activities is reviewed within the Campus Improvement Plan and can be reviewed by the Texas Education Agency upon request to ensure they meet the needs of the PFE Program.

Curriculum
Savannah Elementary school follows the Denton ISD Curriculum. Denton ISD uses high-quality curriculum that supports student success. More information on Denton ISD’s Curriculum can be found on the Teaching & Learning website linked here.
Forms of Academic Assessments
Savannah Elementary has common formative assessments that all teachers across the grade level administer. Additionally, all students take common district assessments to routinely measure student progress. Students are given report card assessments that are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Students in grades 3-5 are assessed on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness or STAAR tests. Previous STAAR tests are released and utilized for assessment and instruction in addition to other curriculum resources.
Expected Achievement Levels on Academic Assessments
The State’s Performance Standards can be found on this website: https://tea.texas.gov/student-assessment/student-assessment-results/staar-performance-standards
Savannah monitors the progress of each child’s learning and growth throughout the year via local assessments (mentioned above). Savannah elementary monitors student progress via our district assessments, common formative assessments, and state assessments. To track the data, we use progress monitoring documents noting our students’ reading levels, ELAR and Math iReady Tiers, our targeted intervention groups, and performance on iReady mastery checks.
Ways to Request Meetings
Savannah Elementary values the input and collaboration with guardians as we collectively work to support student achievement. To schedule a meeting, please reach out to principal Andi Hawkins at ahawkins@dentonsid.org.

A NOTE ON BIRTHDAYS:
We are happy to celebrate your child's birthday at school. We allow parents to send birthday trinkets for their child's class if they want, however, WE DO NOT ALLOW BIRTHDAY TREATS or FOODS. Cupcakes/cake/candy etc. compete with healthy meals and snacks and may affect students with food allergies. We will not serve them.
