Communication for Savannah Families
Savannah Elementary Families,
It’s time to rally together for our Savannah Gators Fun Run fundraiser! Our goal is to raise $15,000 for instructional resources for students, which will enhance our school’s resources and provide our students with an even better educational experience.
To make things even more exciting, if we raise $15,000, our principals will have a lip sync battle!
Also, if we reach our goal of 85% of student registering, EVERY student will receive a free day pass to Great Wolf Lodge!!! Registration is completely free!
We are encouraging you to…
1️. Sign up at MyBooster.com and join the fun.
2️. Share your fundraising page with friends and family.
3️. Donate if you are able.

💛 PTA Gratitude Drive (family participation)
More information and all needed materials will come home soon with your student. Please write something your family is grateful for and send it back to school. Volunteers will connect them to create a Heart Full of Gratitude Chain linking the grateful hearts of parents, students, and teachers that will be displayed in the hallways.
You can also support this at home by talking with your child about what they’re thankful for and ways they can show kindness.
We’d love your involvement with PTA, too!
Join, volunteer, or help at events anytime — every bit makes a difference.
Questions or want to help? Email president@savannahpta.org.
Thank you for helping us grow grateful hearts!

Thank you for allowing me to partner with you to support your child’s academic and emotional success!
Denton ISD values parent/guardian partnership in learning. We support parents/guardians as the primary educators of their children. As a parent/guardian, you have the right to preview all education material. If you would like to request that your child NOT attend one of the above presentations, please contact Jenn Runion (School Counselor) at jrunion@dentonisd.org.
Referrals for spring testing are due Friday, February 6th.
Important Notice Regarding State-Mandated Student Health Screenings:
Our school continues to conduct state-mandated health screenings for students in required grade levels. These screenings include vision, hearing, spinal (scoliosis), and acanthosis nigricans and are completed in accordance with Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) guidelines. When appropriate, a vision photo screener may be used, including for students with disabilities who may not respond well to other traditional screening methods.
Throughout the fall semester, students were screened based on parent opt-in consent forms. Updated guidance has clarified that moving forward, these screenings are now conducted on an opt-out basis. We value our ongoing partnership with families and remain committed to keeping parents informed and involved in their child’s health.
What this means for families:
· No action is needed if you would like your child to participate in the screenings.
· If you do not want your child to be screened, please contact your campus nurse, Rebecca Manaska at rmanaska@dentonisd.org to opt out by February 1st.
· If you have already opted out, no further action is needed.
· Screenings on campus will resume February 2nd.
If your child does not pass a screening, you will be notified by email through SNAP Health Center, our secure student health system. If you have any questions or need additional information or resources, please contact your campus nurse, Rebecca Manaska at rmanaska@dentonisd.org
A NOTE ON BIRTHDAYS:
We are happy to celebrate your child's birthday at school. We allow parents to send birthday trinkets for their child's class if they want, however, WE DO NOT ALLOW BIRTHDAY TREATS or FOODS. Cupcakes/cake/candy etc. compete with healthy meals and snacks and may affect students with food allergies. We will not serve them.
Special Areas rotations will shift beginning January 6th for the 3rd Nine Weeks.
Be sure to know what day your Gators have P.E. and when they need their Library books! (Though Mrs. Holt recommends they have their books at school EVERY day!)
We are needing donations of every day items you have at home! Items can be sent in any time from now until MARCH!
Don't Forget to Sign Up:
Our goal is for 100% of Savannah families to complete the application—even if you think you won’t qualify. Why? Because the more families who apply, the better chance we have of qualifying for free meals for all students during the 2025–2026 school year! Don't forget you must reapply each year!
Apply here or using the button below.
It will prompt you to sign up for a SchoolCafe account first (or sign in if you already have an account from last year), then you click on the benefits link within.
