When graphing a function, ordinarily the first thing you would do is reach for your TI-84. For the sake of this lesson, let's assume that the batteries are dead in your calculator, or maybe it got crushed into bits when a falling anvil landed on it. Luckily, it was outside of your backpack at the time, so your calculus book escaped unscathed.
