Since dealing with one linear equation at a time is just too easy, let's throw in another one or two to deal with at the same time. I hope that is consistent with your line of thinking. What might be inconsistent, however, is the fact that after we finishing learning how to do all of this the long tedious way, we will eventually learn how to do all of the same stuff in a number of much simpler ways.
