Advocacy Letters

In an Advocacy Letter the writer writes a letter to a decision-maker (for example, a politician, a government minister, somebody working for a local or international organization, and so on) who can take action or organize others to take action about a particular global issue. The writer might alternatively address the letter to a particular newspaper for the "Letters to the Editor" section. In the letter the writer explains their interest in the issue and why action needs to be taken. In an Advocacy Letter or Letter to the Editor, the writer presents key information about the issue and develops a clear and strong argument to persuade the reader of the letter to take action. 行動を求める手紙/「advocacy letter」では、書き手は、特定のグローバルな問題に関して行動を起こすことができる、または、行動を起こすために人々を組織することのできる意思決定者（例えば、政治家、大臣、地方や国際的な組織で働く人々など）に手紙を書きます。書き手は、代わりに、（新聞等の編集部などへの）通信欄（投稿欄）へと特定の新聞社に手紙を送るかもしれません。手紙の中で、書き手はその問題に対する彼らの関心と、なぜ行動を起こす必要があるのかを説明します。行動を求める手紙や編集者への手紙では、書き手が、特定の問題について重要な情報を提示し、手紙の読者に行動を起こさせるために明確で説得力のある議論を展開します。これまでの受講生が作成したものの例は以下にあります。
