Station D D104 : Your AI Study Buddy
As AI tools become more accessible to students, independent learning practices are rapidly evolving. This 15-minute session introduces practical strategies for using AI as a "study buddy" to build and refine key English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and vocabulary. Drawing on a student-centered approach, the session will showcase how AI can be prompted effectively to generate study materials, provide feedback, and support self-regulated skill development outside the classroom. Participants will be guided through examples that demonstrate how learners can engage AI tools to create customized practice activities, receive targeted feedback, and deepen their understanding of language concepts. The emphasis will be on equipping students with practical prompting strategies that allow them to personalize their learning experience and take greater ownership of their academic development.
Learning Objectives:
*Identify practical ways students can use AI tools to support independent practice across core English language skills.
*Understand effective prompting techniques to maximize the quality of AI-generated learning materials and feedback.
*Explore how AI can support self-coaching strategies in language learning contexts.
Expected Outcomes:
*Participants will gain insight into how AI tools can enhance student autonomy in English language skill-building.
*Participants will learn prompting techniques that empower students to generate relevant, level-appropriate, and skill-specific study resources.
*Participants will leave with actionable ideas for integrating AI-supported self-study approaches into their own teaching or advising practices.
