It is hard to believe it is already time to start thinking about next year. We start the 4-year plan updates and course registration process, November 6th. Our end goal is to equip you and your student with the knowledge to review their 4-year plan and select appropriate classes for themselves. To best support them during this time, we strongly encourage you to set aside time to read through the material that is sent and complete any action items. Parents are a huge part of this process. We hope that you will review the material and attend our meetings to be informed along the way.
What to expect the next few months:

What to expect moving forward:
4-year Plan updates with Students:
RHS counselors will visit all RHS students through their social studies classes following the schedule below. The link to the presentation will be added to each student’s “Class of” canvas account. During this meeting students will review their 4-year plans in Career Plan in HAC, make updates to their course selections, and check their credits for graduation. We recommend that students and parents review the presentation, 4-year plans and course selections as a family to ensure everyone is aware of the choices being made. HAC will be open to make changes in Career Plan and the 4-year plans until December 19th, 2025, at 5pm.
Rising 12th (current 11th): November 6th and 7th (students who have dual credit social studies will be invited to attend an available class or come during advisory)
Rising 11th (current 10th): November 10th and 11th
Rising 10th (current 9th): November 13th and 14th
1 on 1 Course Verification Meetings
Career Plan will close on December 19th, 2025, and students will go on winter break. Over the break, the courses listed for next school year in Career Plan will roll over to become their course requests for the 2026-27 school year. Each student will receive a 1 on 1 meeting with their counselor beginning January 12th and ending February 6th. Students will review their selections, ensure they are meeting graduation requirements, and have a chance to meet 1 on 1 with their counselor to make any changes and ask any questions needed.
Changing Class Schedules / Updating Courses:
After students complete their 1 on 1 meeting with their counselor, they will have until February 12th to submit any changes after their meeting. All course
requests will be finalized on February 12th, 2025. Please read the disclaimer below about course changes.
We cannot stress enough the importance of checking your course requests in HAC, verifying they are what you want to take, and if not, making the necessary updates.
Per the academic guide:
Students pre-enroll in the spring semester for the upcoming school year, and the master schedule will be based on that information. Students will be able to see and change their course requests pending availability through February 12th by submitted a form to the counselor during this window. After this date, no course changes (including all CTE classes, core classes, and level changes) are allowed. Exceptions that will be allowed are athletics, band, choir, orchestra, color guard, drill team, gifted and talented, debate, and Academic Decathlon. These must be requested by the 7th school day of the year. Advanced, AP®, and International Baccalaureate (IB) classes may only be dropped at the 6-week mark of a course or at the end of the semester, and course availability may impact options.
