Reedy Lions,

Beginning Monday, September 8th students can pick up an “Advanced/AP Change Form” in the counseling office.  The form is only available in the counseling office and must be complete for any change to be considered. We can not accept emailed forms, late forms, or email requests to change.

This form must be completed and turned in no later an 4:30pm on September 17th, 2025. All changes will take effect Monday, September 22nd, 2025.

Schedule changes will be made only to those who want to change levels of class, out of an advanced or AP, level down only. We are not able to make any other schedule changes or accept any other types of change requests.  This process will require both Teacher and Parent signatures for approval. We can not accept late request. If you are dropping multiple classes, you will need to complete multiple forms.

 11th/12th Grade ONLY: You may request Late Arrival, Early Release if you do not already have 2 on your schedule.

 AP with no lower level: The following courses do not have a lower-level equivalent and can only be dropped to release/late arrival. If your course is required for graduation your counselor will give you your options to ensure you meet all graduation requirements. If you do not have a release period to give, you will remain in the course until the semester.

AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 2, AP Spanish 4 or 5, AP Euro, AP Music Theory, AP Calc AB,  AP Computer Science Principles, Ap Computer Science A, all AP Art courses, AP French 4, Spanish and French 3 Adv, AP Seminar, Ap Research

If a change is needed and will impact graduation requirements. A counselor will work with you on next steps, but a form must be submitted no matter what.

If a student is requesting to drop an AP or Advanced course the following criteria must be met: students have completed all assigned work, students have attended tutorials when needed, students have retested when needed.

Changing your schedule now may impact your lunch, your teachers, and your current class schedule. Not all changes will work with all schedules and may not be possible. Previous versions of your schedule will not be granted after a change has been made. We cannot undo changes. We are unable to predict in advance what your schedule will look like with the change. If you are going into an on-level class, the grade from the 1st 6 weeks does follow to the new class and will be a part of your Q1 average. You will work to improve your grade in your new course. Please note that not all courses have an on level or lower equivalent to change. If there is not an available option, the course will remain. Speak with a counselor if you have questions or concerns about classes that can impact graduation.

Class of 2026 and 2027,

In order to encourage commitment and retention to a Fine Arts or Athletics program for a full four years and encourage participation in the upper-level courses in these areas, students have the option to exclude from the weighted GPA calculation one credit course each year in grades 11 and 12. This allows juniors and seniors to participate in the below programs in the third and/or fourth year on a GPA exempt basis. This option is primarily for students who have a weighted GPA of 5.0 or greater. Students below a 5.0 will not likely benefit from opting out.  

If you are not participating in one of the below programs for a 3rd or 4th year in a row, you can disregard this email.

Orchestra

*The GPA exemption only applies for area of Fine Arts that do not contain option for weighted credit, thus Art is not an eligible area (Advanced and AP Art courses are available in four- year pathways

 
To exclude a course from the weighted GPA calculation, students must have two years participation in the single program of interest in two previous school years during high school. To request a GPA exemption for the upcoming school year, students must complete the “GPA Opt Out” form AND it must be approved by a parent & counselor by September 30th, 2025. The exemption form can be found on the student portal under the “GPA Opt Out Request” tile.

Reedy High School will be administering the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, or ASVAB to interested 10th, 11th, 12th grade students on October 15, 2025.  Testing will begin at 9:00 am.  Students will be testing on FISD Chromebooks.

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) is a comprehensive, no cost, no commitment career planning resource designed to help young people align their strengths and interests with a post high school plan that works.

ASVAB CEP is not just about military entrance.  It encourages students to:

•Explore their interests and the full spectrum of career options

•Create a plan toward getting the skills and qualifications they need to meet career goals

We are so excited for you to start your final year at Reedy. We are proud of how far you have come and can’t wait to see what is next. We know this time is stressful and can be confusing with all the information surrounding what to do next. We know the college admissions process, career exploration, and just the general, what to do next can be hard to navigate. We wanted to make sure that everyone is one is aware of the plan for guidance for all Seniors as we navigate this school year. Below is our schedule and what to expect for this first semester!

Senior Guidance will cover everything from the college application process, getting a recommendation letter, FAFSA, scholarships, ACT and SAT, 2-year colleges, trade schools, workforce information, and more.

As explained in Jump Start Juniors last April, we asked that students work through some of the steps of the admissions process in the Summer. Here is the presentation as a reminder. We will expand on the next steps during our Senior Guidance. Feel free to continue to work on any steps listed in this presentation prior to our meeting. This included starting your profile, writing your essays, and even taking the SAT or ACT again if needed.

August 21st and ongoing every Wednesday:

August 26th: 8:30 am

Senior Parent Meeting: virtual meeting covering the guidance we will give Seniors, as well as details about using Parchment (our transcript processing system)

August 28th and 29th:

Senior Guidance Presentations

All Seniors will meet with the counselors during their English period to receive Senior Guidance over these two days.

All Dual Credit students can meet during 1st, advisory or 4th period on August 28th, or during advisory on August 29th. If none of those times work, they need to speak with their counselor.

August 30th and ongoing:  

            Counselors will process Recommendation Letters, using the system covered in guidance.

            Counselors will work with students individually, as requested, for support during their application process. Students can sign up to see their counselor or Ms. Kelly, College and Career Counselor anytime.  

September 22nd

            New Senior Rank and GPA will be released in HAC

            Note: students can order transcripts now to send before Sept 20th, these will include last year’s rank/gpa/class size- if you want a college to see your rank and GPA before we run again, we recommend you send prior to Sept 22nd.

December: TBD

            Return of the Lions- Reedy Alumni will return to talk to our students about their College experience.

The CoServ Scholarship program's purpose is to encourage and support eligible graduating high school seniors as they pursue their education at an institution of higher learning or trade school in the state of Texas.
