The sun shined through the window and the birds chirped and sang.It was the morning of a day I didn't know would be one of the best days of my life.
“Buenos Dias,” my mom said as she walked into the room. “I have a surprise for you guys after you finish eating breakfast so get up and eat your usual breakfast.” I glanced at my brother and he glanced back. I got up from my bed and my brother followed.
“What do you think the surprise is?” my brother asked.
“I don’t know,” I replied. We sat down at the table and started eating breakfast.
When we finished my mom said “Ok so your Uncle Salomon offered to bring you two to the beach with the rest of your cousins”. My face lights up like a Disco ball.
“OMG OMG OMG OUR FIRST TIME AT A BEACH!” I shouted. My mom handed us towels and told us to get in the car and get ready to go. Myself, my brother, Uncle Salomon, Edwin, and my 6 cousins were all going together too but two people had to sit in the trunk. I was happy it wasn’t me and my brother.
“Is everyone ready?” my uncle said.
“YES!!!” we all shouted together. Then we started our 2 hour journey to Atlantic city, the only thing to see outside was cars, some trees and a long road. When we finally got there, it was around one in the afternoon so we went and got something to eat first.
“There is a restaurant nearby,” said Salomon, so we followed and went to eat. When we got there he asked me and my brother if we wanted a hot dog or a burger, I said burger and my brother said hot dog and we ate.The food there was so very scrumptious.Everyone ate then we started walking to the beach since I had never been to one, I stepped on the sand and its was so hot it burned my feet. My cousin told me to put my sandal’s on first. The sand was still hot though but the sandals made it better. The wind blew through my hair and the water tickled my feet.
“Have some fun kids,” my uncle said. Me, Jeffrey and my baby cousin started with the sand and then the water. It was good getting to know my family more.
“Hey! Saul!” my cousin shouted.
“What?”
“Come with me, I'll teach you some basic stuff when you're at the beach," I agreed to go with him. I wasn't allowed to go very deep but my cousin was older and taller than me so my uncle said it was OK.
“OK so when you see little waves jump over them and when you see big waves duck down”. When the first big wave came I ducked down but it pushed me back and I started laughing.
Later that day we went to the carnival, I've never been to one before so I was so excited. First, we went to a ride that brought me up and down with speed and it was so weird, but my favorite was the one that brought me up and spun me around.
“I'm not going on that one. It’s too high” my cousin said.
“I'm gonna do it!” I replied.
I sat in the chair and the ride started. I glanced down and saw my cousin who was too scared to get on. I was so proud of myself I was younger and I still went on.
“Haha take that Miguel,” I shouted while spinning around. The one thing that scared me was that a part of the ride was above water and I was scared I would fall in but I didn't.
On our way to the car to get back home my uncle said “Since Saul and Jeffrey are the smallest you two go in the back”. I was devastated but I pulled through and made it home after the great day I had. I got to know my family a little better and I had a great time. I hope I have more memories like this in the future and i'll always remember this one.
