What it is like in Quarantine

What important lessons have you learned? I’ve learned many things during this time of quarantine and social distancing. I also have to do Remote Learning. We’re in quarantine because of the Corona virus, AKA Covid-19.
I have to do Remote Learning because I can’t go to school and go to my classes. My teachers sent us packets in the beginning for 12 days. After the 12 days, we had online work. Right now, I’m doing online work. My mom thinks we won’t be going back to school until the Fall. I think we’ll be going back soon.
It’s been kind of boring but I found ways to entertain myself. I play Gamepigeon, which is different types of games you can play against people through text messages. I also FaceTime my friends to entertain myself and talk to them to see what they’ve been up to. I watch television and play games on my phone. I walk around the neighborhood. I listen to music and dance. I watch my mom cook food and help clean up the kitchen.
My mom made food for us. I ate Hot Dogs and beans, Hamburger Helper, Chicken Dip, and sandwiches with Lunch Meat. One day, she had made the Hamburger Helper so the whole family was going to eat it. My dad then didn’t eat his food because he didn’t feel good. He lied in his bed and my mom took his temperature. He had a fever so my mom cleaned the bathroom. She cleaned everywhere. She said that she, my sister, and I had to be quarantined downstairs just in case he got the Corona virus. My sister had decided to stay in her room. The next day, he went to go get tested. The doctor said he would get the results in 5 days unless he calls the lab. That would be 4 days.
I stayed downstairs doing my work. If I wanted to go upstairs, I had to wear a face mask. My mom still cooked. We still took showers upstairs. My mom and I spent most of our time downstairs. My dad called the lab and they said he didn’t have COVID-19. We were relieved. I was happy I could go upstairs without a mask. Everything was sort of normal again. It was just that we’re still in quarantine.
My mom would watch MSNBC and News 12 New Jersey everyday to watch Andrew Cuomo and Phil Murphy speak. She would listen to the updates of the increase of people with COVID-19 in New York and New Jersey. She would look at the death toll and she would listen to what Dr. Fauci, the head of the National Institution of Health, had to say. He said students might go back to school in September. I’ve lost two people close to my family due to the Corona virus. I comforted my mom because she was so sad they passed away.
Those who lost their lives made me realize how important life is and it could be taken away in an instant. It made me aware of what is going on in the world. It made me appreciate life more. It made me love more. It brightened my mind because I don’t think I would appreciate life more. I am happy I am alive because I nearly died during quarantine.
My sister, Raven, went to my cousin’s house. My aunt had made brownies and she gave Raven one. Raven then gave me the brownie. She didn’t ask if it had nuts. Mind you, I’m allergic to nuts. I had a piece of the brownie and it triggered an allergic reaction. My throat started closing and I couldn’t really talk. My mom said I couldn’t go to the ER because of the pandemic going around. My mom asked Raven if it had nuts. She said that she didn’t know. My mom gave me Benadryl but it was hard to swallow. I eventually swallowed it and felt better.
In conclusion, quarantine has been going okay for me. I’ve found stuff to entertain myself. I’ve found the value of life. I am doing Remote Learning.
