The diversity in Franklin hasn't always been like it is now. The diversity has changed over the years from the schools, as well as the way people choose their friend groups. The stories that you will read are from Mrs. Osman when she first came to Franklin and went to school here and Laura when she was in high school and how the students at that time interacted with each other. The main difference between now and back then is that people from different races weren’t as close, for example, Hispanic weren’t friends with White, Black, or Asians. In this article, I'm going to take you through time from 50 years ago to 18 years and back to the present day.
Mrs. Osman is a resident in Franklin at the present day, but she wasn’t born here in Franklin. She moved here when she was 5 years old. When she was in school there were only neighboring schools and so wherever that person lived that was where they went to school. “The schools weren’t as diverse as they are now”.
Laura was a resident of Franklin, she went to high school here and now she lives in Edison. When she was here the middle school was the high school. when she was in school the students there really didn’t get along as students do here besides the violence that went on. The students didn’t mix with other people that didn’t share the same race. “I have seen with my siblings that they have a good group of friends of different races.
The diversity in Franklin has changed throughout the years from when Mrs. Osman and when Laura was in school here and it's not just the diversity but also the school system and how the students interacted with each other. Since it changed so much that Laura said that “I might be here because of it also close to family but as well as getting my kids”.
