Year 6 children have made an amazing start to this school year and have already achieved so much over this half term! Their effort and dedication has been brilliant.
We had a visit from Alive and Kicking Drama as part of Bradford City of Culture 2025. The children were enthralled in the drama experiences and valued spending time planning, practising and perfecting their performance! Our Year 6 class is full of talented actors!
Electricity is currently the science focus in Year 6 and it has been a blast! The children's prior knowledge has been tested and developed as we have delved back into the Year 4 electricity topic. Conductors, insulators, electrical safety and simple series circuits were all examples of what the children remembered.
Potential difference, nucleus, electrons, current, terminal, protons, neutrons are just a few examples of the vocabulary we have been studying so far in this topic.
The children loved researching electrical storms and electric eels and made excellent information texts on them.
The best part of the topic so far has been having the opportunities to explore and test circuits. We have altered the different components of the circuits and observed and recorded the changes.
For Children's Mental Health Day, Year 6 explored the benefits of being physically active.
We linked gymnastics and parkour together, inspired by our class novel Rooftoppers. Balance, control, strength, agility and flexibility were traits all on show in this session and the children gave it their all!
