Hello! All of the children have had such a lovely first half term and have settled in extremely well! I hope you have all had a positive experience so far. This is some of the exciting things that have been going on.
We really enjoyed our trip to Bradford Industrial Museum where we did a workshop comparing old and new toys. This supplemented our History learning in school where we are, and will be comparing the 1950s to now.Â
In History we've also created our own 'community' and compared cities and towns with villages.
Outdoor area
In our outdoor area, we have done lots this year. We have planted beans, which have now started growing, we've searched for clues for Beegu, we have done lots of outdoor Maths, and we have had lots and lots of fun!
Maths
In Maths, we have been focusing mainly on numbers to 10. We've made the numbers using manipulatives, we've compared, ordered and also started to add and subtract. Within our Maths, there are lots of practical activities so the children learn through seeing how the numbers are made up.
English
In English, as I'm sure your children will have told you, we've been having communication with Professor Klunk. The professor has been 'delivering' our learning and the children have really enjoyed this. We have received challenges and the children have been 'inventuring' (inventing things and going on an adventure)! Through this, the children have been very creative and have had to write codes to make their designs work or come to life. We have also been working on our handwriting using our very special books and the children have done amazing!
Geography
The children have been learning all about the continents and the oceans. We have used atlases to support this and the children have been doing great!
Have a wonderful half term break and we shall see you all when you're back.
Mr Backhouse and the Year One team.
