Year 4 have had a fantastic start to the first half of the autumn term!
We have been incredibly busy with lots of exciting topics and themed days. One highlight was the Money Matters Festival, where we explored budgeting, the importance of saving versus spending, and creative ways to earn money for something special. The most popular idea was doing jobs around the house—like emptying the dishwasher, washing up, and tidying—so watch out, parents… we’ve become money-savvy!
We also took part in a Mental Health Afternoon, rotating around KS2 classrooms to try activities like breathing exercises, zentangle patterns, and yoga. Another favourite was the KS2 Times Tables Afternoon, where we had fun competing in house teams to show off our multiplication skills.
We’ve also really enjoyed our art topic this half term. We created our background washes using watercolours and then added leaf rubbings using oil pastels. The leaves were collected at home, which made each piece unique and personal. The final results were fantastic and we’re really proud of the artwork we’ve produced!
In RE, we’ve loved learning about Judaism. We found the story of Moses and the burning bush really interesting and discussed why Moses is such an important figure to Jewish people. We also explored the special Seder meal and the meaning behind each part of it. It’s been a fascinating topic, and we’re looking forward to discovering more in our next RE unit.
We’re also really looking forward to next half term and our upcoming school trip!
