SO 2023-24 season -
What a great year! A big shout-out to the parents and volunteers that helped to support our 2 Science Olympiad teams at home, practices, scrimmages and the regional tournament - Thank you!! We would not have been as successful without parent support! Thank you for investing in your child's education!
SO Try-Outs 2023-2024
Thank you to everyone that tried out for Science Olympiad! We had almost 200 students trying out for this year's teams.
Science Olympiad is one of the premier science competitions in the nation. This is a rigorous program and requires complete commitment on the part of participating students and their families.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? 3RD, 4TH AND 5TH GRADE STUDENTS
WHAT DO WE DO? QUIZ AND BUILD EVENTS
Each year we assemble a team of students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, to study and compete in local challenges for an opportunity to compete at the State level. Students will have an opportunity to participate and train for the events. Science Olympiad events cover a variety of subjects, and range from hands-on building events to quiz events. Teams may be composed of up to 20 students in total. The teams are made up of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Each team may have no more than (8) 5th grade students.
Students will be paired to compete in quiz and build events. All students are expected to attend practices, scrimmages and the regional competition. If earned, the state competition will be held at a Georgia University in May 2024. It is expected that students will practice their events at home too.
Members must try out and are selected by the STEM teacher Mrs. Downs.
