Activate the circle command by selecting the Circle button OR by typing in "circle" and hitting enter.
There are several different options in the submenu for circle:
Center, Radius - Draws a circle by defining the center and radius
Center, Diameter - Draws a circle by defining the center and diameter
2 Points - Draws a circle by defining two end points of the diameter
3 Points - Draws a circle by defining three points on the circle
Tan, Tan, Radius - Draws a circle by specifying two objects its tangent to and its radius
Tan, Tan, Tan - Draws a circle by specifying three objects its tangent to
To activate the arc command, select the Arc button OR by type "arc" and hit enter.
There are also several different options in the submenu for circle:
3 Point - Creates an arc by connecting three points on the curve
Start, Center, End - Creates an arc by specifying the starting point, center (not on the arc), and ending point (not necessarily on the arc)
Start, Center, Angle - Creates an arc by specifying the starting point, center (not on the arc), and included angle
Start, Center, Length - Creates an arc by specifying the starting point, center (not on the arc), and the length of a chord
Start, End, Angle - Creates an arc by specifying the starting point, the ending point, and the included angle
Start, End, Direction - Creates an arc by specifying the starting point, the ending point, and a direction tangent to the starting point
Start, End, Radius - Creates an arc by specifying the starting point, the ending point, and a radius
Center, Start, End - Creates an arc by specifying the center, the starting point, and the ending point
Center, Start, Angle - Creates an arc by specifying the center, the starting point, and the included angle
Center, Start, Length - Creates an arc by specifying the center, the starting point, and the length of a chord
Start a new drawing and create the design to the right. Remember that ⌀ represents diameter. And it is recommended to start in the lower left hand corner of the design and designate that as (0,0). Make sure to save your work periodically.
Start another new drawing and create the design to the right. Remember that R represents radius. The little red hash marks represent the centers of the arcs. This one will be a challenge, but give it a try!
Hint: It may be helpful to draw construction lines. Recall, construction lines are used to help set up a drawing, but are not in the finish print. You can draw these lines to help you and then delete them when you are finished.
