Ms. Sujung and I, both Korean teachers, have dedicatedly taught Korean classes at various schools throughout the 2023-2024 school year. We deeply appreciate the invaluable support provided by the Chicago Korean Education Center (CKEC) and South Korea. Our collaborative efforts have enabled us to consistently meet and plan meticulously, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education to students who are passionate about promoting and embracing Korean culture.
Recently, CKEC orchestrated a captivating writing and drawing competition for Korean language learners in 40 schools across the Midwest region of the United States, spanning WI, MN, IL, OH, IN, and KY. This event commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Korea-U.S. alliance and the 120th anniversary of Korean immigration to the Americas.
As a result, Mary Todd Elementary and TLC enthusiastically submitted their students' exceptional work to the competition, attaining commendable success. Leo Ueda, from TLC, was honored with the Grand Prize, while Margaret Nelson and Dakoda Green, also from TLC, received the Encouragement Award at the high school level.
Excitedly, we have made the decision to participate in the World Language Korean Festival scheduled for May 10, 2024.
