Our extensive activities programme, which takes place twice a day, is a key feature of life at Farlington.
At 1.35pm, every pupil in the school will be involved in an enrichment activity for 30 minutes. This could be outdoors or indoors, something practical, something intellectual, something unusual, or it could be used for a subject clinic for any student who would like to go back to some aspect of learning because they perhaps found it difficult or had been away.
There is a second 45-minute activity slot every day at 4.45pm. This is optional but we hope that pupils will stay as often as possible to take advantage of our programme. We recognise that some students may well have an activity or something they need to do outside of school and that is, of course, fine.
Prep is offered each day from the end of the school day until 5.30pm. This means that your child will be supervised by a member of staff whilst completing homework or revision. There is no need to book Prep.
Year 12 and 13 students are welcome to stay and study in the Sixth Form Centre as and when they wish.
School buses depart at 5.35pm. All day pupils are expected to have been collected, and therefore offsite by 5.45pm. The school allows a 15-minute window of discretion until 6pm for collection, with late collection monitored to ensure fair usage for emergency situations only. After 6pm, there are significant implications for staffing to provide supervision, and the school will charge a £20 late collection fee per half hour to cover this cost. Any charges will be added to the school bill.
Please see Structure of the School Day for more information.
