We finally went to bed yesterday around 12:00 Tokyo time and woke up at 6:30 for our 7:00 buffet style breakfast. At breakfast we were prompted to try new foods so a lot of us had natto (fermented soybeans) which was surprisingly better than the internet lead me to believe. Afterwards we left to go to meiji shrine. Fun fact: shrines always have spring water available to wash your hands with in a special ceremony upon entering the shrine. Next, we took the train to harajuku and split into groups. I bought a large pink fur coat and a pair of matching strawberry earrings. Then we went to shibuya crossing and ate lunch. Shibuya is also the place where the true story of Hachico the dog took place. We then took yet another train (or three) to Odaiba, which is a reclaimed island directly off of Tokyo (technically still part of Tokyo). We went into a science museum and saw exhibits including the future of androids, particle physics, and how the advancement of technology has changed natural disasters. Afterwards we ate dinner and returned to the hotel to bathe and sleep. Tomorrow is partially planned by me & a group so I'm excited.

Hm today was kinda weird. Our flight was at noon chicago time and lasted fourteen hours, so between the time that I woke up in Chicago and the time went to sleep in Toyko almost 27 hours had elapsed sans sleep. The flight itself made up at least 14 hours of it (I'd have lost it were it not for the book I was reading). We ate dinner from a 7/11 (surprisingly delicious) and then took the train to our hotel. There's a bath house right across the hall from our room and an excellent view of Tokyo. I'm very excited for tomorrow.
