Does Not Follow Through

Before you start, a few important points:

Try multiple interventionsEach intervention should be tried for designated length of timeMore than 1 intervention may be implemented at the same timeCollect and track specific data on each intervention tried & its effectIf your data indicates no progress after the designated length of time, you may consider another intervention or look at a different root cause and different set of interventions

Interventions:

Teach how to stay focused by anticipating roadblocks

- help them think through a back-up plan

Teach when and how to access resources

- Teach them to ask themselves these questions:
  1. What will I do if you find I need help on this project?
  2. Who and what should I put on a list of people and resources I might need?
- Create a culture that supports students asking for help from the teacher and other students
- Teach them how to ask for help

Build Self-Monitoring Skills

1. Checklists and Rubrics
  - Help students visualize the end product, steps to accomplish that goal, and issues they need to consider for judging quality along the way
2. Self-Evaluating and Celebrating Small Success
  - Have conversations that celebrate small steps
  - Help them reflect on ways to adjust what isn’t working
  - Model self-talk to monitor and adjust your plans

These interventions don't seem to match the student's needs, take me back to the root cause page.
