Teach them to ask themselves these questions:
What will I do if you find I need help on this project?
Who and what should I put on a list of people and resources I might need?
Create a culture that supports students asking for help from the teacher and other students

Checklists and Rubrics
Help students visualize the end product, steps to accomplish that goal, and issues they need to consider for judging quality along the way
Self-Evaluating and Celebrating Small Success
Have conversations that celebrate small steps
Help them reflect on ways to adjust what isn’t working
Model self-talk to monitor and adjust your plans
