Use Google Docs for more than just individual student writing:

• When documents are shared, teachers are able to provide feedback to students in real-time while they work, allowing students to make changes and learn from the feedback as they create.
• Students can share documents and work on them simultaneously. This is useful when working side by side or from different locations.
• With a Google username and password, files can be accessed from anywhere that has an internet connection.
• Teachers can set up a Google Doc with a pre-made template to share with students, e.g., story starter, picture prompt, lab template.

Organize classroom resources, assignments and announcements with Google Classroom.

• Create classrooms for different grades and subjects.
• Post resources, videos and links to websites.
• Post assignments for students and differentiate learning by creating assignment for specific students.
• Ask a question for student response.
• Use Google Classroom as a sharing repository among school or district staff.

Use Google Slides to create slideshows, templates, portfolio learning and organize learning.

• Create a project template using Google Slides. Students can add to the template, change images, and manipulate information to demonstrate understanding. Click here for an example of Grade 2 Science template.
• Use Google Slides as a way for students to take notes or create a learning journal. A new slide can be created for each topic. Links, pictures and even video clips can be included on slides.
• Google Slides can always be used in its original, traditional form to create a slideshow presentation on a topic.
• Students can complete a scientific method report by documenting their data and findings during a science experiment in a Google Slide. Create, edit and collaborate with Google Drawings.

• Use Google Drawings to create a template activity for your students to complete. E.g. Put Canada Back Together.
• Create a mind map or flow chart using the line and shape features. Double clicking on a shape after it is created will turn it into a text box.

• Students can create posters, visual demonstrations of learning or collages.

Google Forms allows you to create surveys, exit tickets and formative assessments.

• Students can survey their peers and analyze results by creating their own Google Form quickly and easily.
• Create and share an exit ticket or reflection question for your students to complete at the end of a lesson.
• Teachers can build tests and quizzes using Google Forms. Tests are instantly scored and students receive immediate feedback allowing for powerful reinforcement of learning when this option is selected by a teacher.

• Use Alice Keeler's Template Tab add-on to collect answers and information from students. This add-on allows you to create a template on a google sheet and then creates a tab for each student or group to respond on the same sheet. All students can collaborate on the same Google Sheet.

• Use Sheets to organize links and documents for an inquiry or to manage a complex project.

Create your own website, quickly and easily in minutes with the new Google Sites.

• Students can create their own site as a research project, portfolio of learning or even to correspond with a Genius Hour project.
• Teachers can create a classroom site that is simple and fast to update.
• Google Docs, Slides, Forms, Drawings, hyperlinks, YouTube videos, calendars and images can easily be imbedded in Sites.

Use Google My Maps to look up locations, create your own maps and create layers with lines and shapes.

• Students can use the line feature to draw out sections or create shapes on a map that can be labeled and tagged with images or notes.
• Add markers to maps to label locations, points of interest, land forms or attach an image to a map.
• In this example created by Black Gold Regional Division, students outlined the regions of Alberta and created markers to identify some of the physical geography within those regions.
