Outcome 1: Understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies and transfer knowledge to explore emerging technologies.

Division 1

Begin to demonstrate proficiency with basic operating skills such as login & out; use mouse, trackpad or touch screen; right and left clicks; open and close apps; insert headphones; and operate a camera on a tablet.

Recognize common symbols within a technology setting (QR Codes; Settings Gear; Save icon; Share icon; Print; Hyperlinks).

Find, store and/or share a file or image.

Create and appropriately name folders and files for organization.

Proofread and edit writing using word processors and other appropriate resources.

Use an online learning management system (LMS). (e.g., Google Classroom).

Insert, format and/or annotate media.

Create, edit and share digital presentations.

Respond to digital surveys and questions.

With teacher guidance, compose a message that can be sent electronically.

Division 2

Independently operate peripheral devices.

Gain proficiency and speed in touch typing.

Retrieve data and files from a shared folder to which a group has contributed.

Use a variety of technology tools (e.g., dictionary, thesaurus, grammar checker, calculator/graphing calculator) to maximize accuracy of work.

Use menu/tool bar functions to format and edit.

Highlight text, cut, copy and paste text.

Insert hyperlinks.

Use horizontal/vertical alignment of graphic objects.

Use stacking order for overlapping graphic objects.

Create digital surveys and questions to collect data.

Identify appropriate responses to inappropriate content on the internet.

Avoid unsafe and inappropriate websites.

Check websites for validity.

Division 3

Use additional formatting features such as tabs, indents, headers, footers, endnotes, bullets and numbering .

Create websites and webpages to demonstrate learning.

Understand pop-ups and permission pages, and respond appropriately.

Use keyboard shortcuts.


Division 4

Use advanced editing, formatting and layout features when appropriate (e.g., columns, templates, bullets/numbering, tables) to improve the appearance and function.

Outcome 2: Manage personal data to maintain digital privacy and security and understand data-collection technology used to track navigation online.

Division 1

Understands and does not share personal identifying information.

Division 2

Create a secure password.

Be able to recognize a secure URL (e.g., https versus http).

Understand GPS location tracking.

Clear browser history.

Division 3

Understands good practice of password security and the consequences of exposure.

Monitor and control the flow of data across platforms and services.
