Pupils in S3 have one period per week of personal, social and health education (PSHE).

PSHE is an important part of each young person’s experience in Williamwood High School. The Pupil Support team have remodelled the PSHE programme with consistency and challenge at the heart of this restructuring. The course breakdown is available on the school website, with the lessons designed to be age appropriate and engaging for each respective year group.

In S3 PSHE, young people develop the knowledge and understanding, capabilities and attributes which they need for mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing now and in the future. The course begins with a three week block of lessons focusing on mindfulness that allows students to explore strategies that can be used to promote positive emotional wellbeing and set targets for the year ahead. Pupils will also engage with content on relationships, sexual health and parenting, substance misuse, finance and anti-social behaviour. In S3 we look at planning for choices and change and developing skills for life, learning and work, especially in the ’Developing the Young Workforce’ unit. With S3 exams, study skills are also important and recording achievements are key in our profiling block of lessons.
