Pupils in S2 have one period per week of personal, social and health education (PSHE).

PSHE is an important part of each young person’s experience in Williamwood High School. The Pupil Support team have remodelled the PSHE programme with consistency and challenge at the heart of this restructuring. The course breakdown is available on the school website, with the lessons designed to be age appropriate and engaging for each respective year group.

The S2 PSHE curriculum is designed to endow pupils with the knowledge and skills to allow them to succeed and achieve on their journey through high school. The curriculum begins with a series of lessons on mindfulness that allows students to explore strategies that can be used to promote positive emotional wellbeing and set targets for the year ahead. Pupils will also engage with content on substances, anti-social behaviour, anti-bullying and relationships, sexual health and parenting – all appropriate to age and stage. Throughout the year there will be a significant focus on developing skills for life, learning and work, especially in the ’Developing the Young Workforce’ and ‘Study Skills’ units, culminating in a whole school equalities project. Students will log their skills and achievements during PSHE in Pupil Profiles that they will continually update as they progress through the school.
