This year's theme, Drug Free Looks Like Me, is a reminder that everyday people across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live Drug-Free!
The East Providence Prevention Coalition (EPPC) will be supporting this event by providing our students with bracelets and other items to celebrate the week. Thank you EPPC!

Chromebook Corner
Thank you for reminding your student to bring their CB to school each morning and charge it each evening. Please leave chargers at home- bringing them to school causes the unnecessary risk of getting lost.
Chromebook Insurance- Accidents happen! You can purchase Chromebook insurance for about $27 a year. (Without insurance, the cost to replace the device is $241.)
Remember, CB should always be in their cases to protect them during the transition to/from school.
See below for additional information.
Seven Habits for Successful Silver Spring Stars
Self Care is our focus for the 2021-2022 school year. Each month, we will highlight one of our Seven Habits for Silver Spring Stars. In October, we focus on Routines. Routines give children a sense of security and help them develop self-discipline- which makes the adults’ job a little easier:)
Follow Routines
Create habits so small but meaningful tasks are accomplished w/ minimal effort
Eliminates the power struggle
Reduces stress & anxiety for everyone
Why Kids Need Routines- 7 Benefits of Using Routines with Kids
Here is a sample of an AM routine. If you would like one created especially for your child, please reach out to Mrs. Francescon via Class Dojo or DFrancescon@epschoolsri.com.
Check out the John Hopkins Medicine article at: https://www.hopkinsallchildrens.org/ACH-News/General-News/The-importance-of-sleep-for-kids to learn more about the importance of sleep in a child's development.
Each student is assigned a Chromebook once the student has returned the signed Acceptable Use Policy: Computer, Technology, Internet and google for Faculty, Staff and Students Instruction - Instructional Resources and Materials page and the Chromebook Loan Agreement page.
These and other documents can be found at the District's website: https://epschoolsri.org/parents/
As we transition into the school year and a new season, it is nice to embrace the changes, while also keeping some activities or times of day the same.
It there a time of day that is hard or difficult? Try making a routine!
One time of the day that may be really challenging is bedtime. Try to find a regular routine that supports getting a good night's rest. Once a routine is in place, it speaks for itself. There is less arguing about when to go to bed or how it should be done. And it becomes easier, once a child knows the routine. Do the same routine every night and see how much it helps!
Getting enough sleep repairs the body and mind while we sleep. A good night’s rest helps keep our mood upbeat; it helps us focus better and remember things we have learned. Good sleep can keep the crankiness away and when we feel good, we do better in school or work, and we get along better with our friends and family.
Here is a routine for you to try. Please contact the school if you would like a copy of our bedtime routine.

While everyone will be receiving free breakfast/lunch this school year, we are still encouraging parents/guardians to fill this application out. In particular, it will help parents/guardians for the first month of school in September 2022. If students qualify for free/reduced lunch now - that will continue on through until for the first 30 days of school - roughly the second week of October.

Because of the great response to the Feinstein Jr. Scholar Golden Ticket promotion, Mr. Feinstein has decided to continue drawing winning numbers through summertime school vacation!
Winning numbers will continue to be announced every Monday on WPRI Channel 12 during their prime time 4:30 p.m. news program and repeated the following day on our Facebook and Virtual Club right up until the end of August.
So, check your ticket each week to see if you and our school are winners! If you have a winning ticket, hold onto it until the start of school in the fall and present it to Mrs. Avila then. What an exciting moment that would be!
