With about 8 weeks left of the school year, students may be itching to go outside and play, and may show signs of being ready to end the school year. To keep motivation high and promote attention towards school activities, think about different ways to celebrate small successes, focus on what needs to be done and scheduling special activities to follow difficult tasks.
Perhaps consider setting a daily or weekly goal with your child. Perhaps a goal for a student would be to learn their multiplication facts up to a certain number or to complete their iready minutes each week. As a part of the goal setting process, you can help your child think of how they will pursue this goal (practicing flash cards each night, playing a math game daily on their tablet or setting aside 10 minutes each day for iready). The focus is more on practicing and building skills, and identifying steps towards meeting a goal. Since the school year is coming to a close, consider the size of the goal and make sure it can be reasonably accomplished within the time we have left. You can consider setting micro goals and celebrating each small accomplishment.
Following goal setting, you can include scheduling different and fun activities at the end of a day or on the weekends. Having an enjoyable activity to focus on at the end of the week, while promoting hard work, is helpful to improving motivation and keeping spirits high.
Let’s show our ability to work hard, get tasks done and then find time to unwind, relax and spend time with loved ones. This year has been a challenging one for many individuals and as summer approaches, we can reflect on how much we have done this year, how much we have overcome despite challenges, and what else needs to be done to wrap up another great school year.
Hello Townie Families! We know that this school year is different on so many levels. As the year progresses and the Covid related restrictions remain, we want to provide you with some activities that are fun, engaging, family focued and safe while also attending to thwww.smore.com/209gp-taking-care-of-you?ref=email e social-emotional needs of our children (and adults too!). Each month, different activities will be added to this site and will remain here for you to access at your convenience. While they are merely suggested activities, we do hope you enjoy them and that they help you and your family through the coming months!

It is so important for all of our students to consistently particpate in Google Meets, as they focus on core instruction.
Students who continuously miss a morning and/or afternoon Google Meet is missing core instruction in ELA and/or math, which will lead to learning loss. Please make every effort to ensure that your child follows his/her teacher's schedule and attends all Google Meets with their camera on and microphone off.
The following are guidelines for students participating in Google Meets with teachers:
Be prepared, ready to learn. Have your materials ready and sit up straight in a work position.
Be prompt to Google Meet lessons.
Common areas in your home are the best place to work.
Dress appropriately.
Turn your camera on.
Mute yourself when you arrive at the Meet and unmute when your teacher asks you to.
Be respectful at all times.
Exit when the meet is over.
Family Members who are on camera should use appropriate language and be appropriately dressed when in the background. Remember that everyone in the Google Meet can hear and see you.
Family members should refrain interrupting the lesson and should reach out to the teacher after the Meet, if there are any questions/concerns.
Crazy Hat/Hair Day!
Parents of students should email a photo of their child with a crazy hat or hair to Mrs. Francescon at dfrancescon@epschoolsri.com.
