Community Learning Skills

Killarney school supports two Community Learning Skills (CLS) classrooms, each with a dedicated Teacher and EA support. At Killarney, our CLS program is designed to provide a wide range of learning activities both in the classroom and in the community.

Students develop communication skills, academic skills, social and living skills by participating in a wide variety of learning activities. All activities are designed to interest and motivate with a focus on Independent Living skills (shopping, cooking, leisure activities, money management, and ETS travel etc.).

As such regular field trips are part of our program, with weekly trips to Northgate mall, Safeway and Walmart, Edmonton Leisure Center’s, Museums, ACT, Movies 12, etc. As well, at Killarney our CLS students have many opportunities to participate in different school activities and programs, such as school wide assemblies and our CLS Coffee Cart. At Killarney we work together with our parents/guardians so that all our CLS students can experience success.
