Here are some tips on how to train your brain in the days leading up to your PATs!
The "Blank Paper" Recall (works for all subjects!): Pick a topic (like Fractions or Space). Take a blank piece of paper and write down everything you know. Then, check your notes. What you forgot is exactly what you need to keep studying!
The Feynman Technique: Try to explain a concept to a family member, pet, or a stuffed animal. If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t quite know it yet.
Reading Prep: Read for 20 minutes every night. It’s like a "warm-up" for the Reading Comprehension test. Ask yourself questions about what you read, or summarize your chapter to a family member.
Data Dump Practice: Practice writing out your "must-remember" formulas (like Area = Base x Height) or writing structures (like your narrative story structure) in under 30 seconds so you can do it as soon as the test starts.
Active Summarizing: Don't just re-read notes. For Science and Social, try to turn a whole page of notes into just 5 "Power Keywords."
