In Grade 6, we focus on applying these to money and metric measurements (cm, m, kg, etc.)
The Setup: Always line up digits by place value. When using money or metric measurements, you must line up the decimal points
The Procedure:
Start at the rightmost column.
Regroup (Carry) if a column totals 10 or more.
Decompose (Borrow) if the top number is smaller than the bottom number.
