Coil Pot

Overview

Create a themed coil pot using proper tools and techniques. The coil pot must be at least 6 inches tall and have a specific theme based on a different piece of artwork- a painting, a song, piece of architecture, etc. . The colors, patterns, textures, must reflect the theme; include any other details that might help the viewer to identify the theme. Students will write an artist statement to accompany their final piece.

Project Requirements

• Brainstorm patterns, images, colors and textures that might help your viewer identify the theme of your piece. Create a sketch of what your final will look like. 

• Create a pot using the coil method, use a slab or pinch pot to start

• Coil pot must be at least 6  inches tall 

• Your coil pot must be themed! Use a piece of art, song, or book as inspiration for your final piece. 

• Watch videos and take notes about how to create a coil pot

• Use glaze to complete coil pot

• Document the process with pictures and notes in your sketchbook
