Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
● Combination materials testing (Garrett and Miles)
● Waterlogged testing (Garrett)
● Composite sole (Garrett and Miles)
● Field Testing select materials (Garrett and Jordan)
● Making water sock with zipper and strap (Ho)
● Field Testing two different water socks (Ho)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
● Field test insole and determine better manufacturing process (All)
● Keep brainstorming the outer material for the water sock (All)
● Testing insole prototype with water sock (Jordan)
● Finding an alternative to hot glue (All)
● To make a water sock for Jordan to test (Ho)
● Find shorter length zippers (Jordan and Ho)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
● The zipper and velcro methods seem to be very viable for the design
● Continue testing, a wider range or ideas is best
● Even though prototyping is moving forward, don’t forget that a cobbler is still an unused resource

● In reference to our insole prototype:
○ Try replacing hot glue with silicone
○ Contact Tom/Ian or other labs about teflon
○ Try different durometers of Urethane. They can be easily mix and poured
○ A mold could be created for quicker repetitive prototyping
○ Putting silicone/etc under a vacuum will ensure no bubbles, but for a quick prototype bubble may not matter too much
● The overall design might want to float or have neutral density, so as to not weigh the user down too much
Risks and Areas of Concern
● Reducing drag
● Ability to be taken on/off
