Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
● Going forward with water sock design
○ Deterrent option at an impasse without live testing
○ Not much luck with catching or gaining access to aquarium stingrays
● Currently compiling list of materials to test
● 3D print new barb holder for pendulum testing
● Emails sent out to stingray experts asking for advice/information not widely available
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
● Ordering materials/material samples (Entire team)
● Set up testing cycle to narrow down material options/combinations (Entire team, part of first bullet point)
● Research into designing a scaled material
○ 3D printing scales might be a possibility (Miles)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
● Update/revise Gantt chart
○ Limit the cycle of ordering, testing, and eliminating materials from design consideration
● Organize list of materials to test using pendulum and barbs
○ Need to do early to order materials
● Continue to try to get in touch with stingray experts
○ So far no responses, apparently need multiple rounds of emails to get any contact
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
● Scaled design (Professor Tustaniwskyj)
○ Brought up with sponsors, a worthwhile avenue to research
● Mixed results on how we addressed the engineering solutions portion of the risk reduction presentation (public safety, economic factors, environmental, etc.)
Risks and Areas of Concern
● Lack of live testing completely rules out a possible avenue of the project
● Learning to use a sewing machine for the prototype
Schedule
● to order all the materials this week
● start testing materials at the beginning of next week
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
amount spent $0
amount remaining $1000
