Introduction to Design Cycle 1
Connections:
Educators will explore ways to use data in an engineering experience. They will engineer an activity to allow students to determine criteria and constraints, design, collect and analyze data, and test one possible solution.
Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of engineering.
- Decide what interdisciplinary bite-sized engineering experience their students will take part in.
- Identify probable criteria and constraints students will use to develop a solution for the client/stakeholder the problem involves.
- Refine and revise the problem statements based on criteria and constraints they identify.
Design Cycle 1: Online Intro
In Cycle 1, you are re-engaging with the question, “What is engineering?” as you help students develop their skills in collecting and organizing data to support their claim to solve an interdisciplinary problem.
In your classroom, you will engineer an interdisciplinary, bite-sized experience that supports students using data to solve a problem.
The online module will support you as you plan for the bite-sized experience with students.
