Revisiting Design
Connections:
Educators will explore ways to use data in an engineering experience. They will engineer an activity to allow students to determine criteria and constraints, design, collect and analyze data, and test one possible solution.
Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of engineering.
- Decide what interdisciplinary bite-sized engineering experience their students will take part in.
- Identify probable criteria and constraints students will use to develop a solution for the client/stakeholder the problem involves.
- Refine and revise the problem statements based on criteria and constraints they identify.
Revisiting Design
The following video highlights how Birmingham Covington School integrates process skills in design thinking. As a public school, Birmingham Covington has a mandated curriculum and standards that need to be delivered; however, teachers also work to help students develop skills that will prepare them for the future (such as critical thinking, working in teams, etc).
Prior to watching the video, brainstorm a few questions you have about continuing your journey in Engineering Design that might be answered based on the description of the video above.
