This course is a continuation of Spanish 1, at an accelerated pace, with an emphasis on the three modes of communication. Through the use of a variety of authentic sources, students increase their vocabulary and strengthen their knowledge of basic language structures. Course goals and objectives support their ability to communicate in the language using a variety of multimedia materials such as articles, news broadcasts, short stories, songs, and a video series. Students are continuing to explore the culture of various Hispanic countries. Spanish is the primary language of communication in the classroom.
Students in Level 2H study similar themes, modes of communication, and grammar as students in Level 2 but Honors sections have the added goal of preparing students for 3H-ACP and 4H-ACP, courses that are in partnership with Indiana University in which students receive dual credit. As an honors level, the course provides a faster pace to practice grammar points and newly acquired vocabulary to move further across the ACTFL Standards of language acquisition. Teachers instruct primarily in the target language.
