EIS became involved with the Taksvärkki Global Citizenship programme in early 2020 and are actively promoting the ideals of global citizenship, which are:
Sustainable development, active citizenship and children's rights
Breaking stereotypes
Raising a sense of global responsibility
Building links between children
Offering a wide range of global education services
Equality (in Finnish yhdenvertaisuus -> www.yhdenvertaisuus.fi)
Equality means that all people are equal, regardless of their gender, age, ethnic or national origin, nationality, language, religion or belief, opinion, disability, state of health, sexual orientation, economic status or any other personal reason.
Personal factors, such as origin or color, should not affect people's access to education, employment and services - fundamental rights belong to everyone. Taking diversity into account means that no one is categorized or treated, for example, through stereotypes that combine their background. Equality means equal opportunities, but not that “everything is always shared equally by all”. One person may need more support than the other.
The Global Citizen team is working to make this school a more inclusive community for everyone.
