A very influential German school of art and design.
The Bauhaus aesthetic was based upon ideals of simplified forms and unadorned functionalism, and a belief that the machine economy could deliver elegantly designed items for the masses.
Steel, concrete, chrome, glass were some of the materials used. It was founded by Walter Gropius in 1919 and was closed in 1933 by the Nazis.

“Bauhaus is one of the most influential stylistic movements and has been considered a revolutionary trailblazer in the fields of art, architecture and design. Its simplicity of form and reduction to the essential is also reflected in Mercedes-Benz Design,” says Gorden Wagener specifying the links to Bauhaus design.
