I am learning to use my available digital software
I can create an artwork using guided steps
I can ask questions about the process
I understand and can apply tone
I have completed a Julian Opie style portrait
My portrait shows tone represented as block coloured shapes
I can use Photoshop to select sections, use the paintbrush, and create layers
I can explain, using simple terms, Julian Opie's style
NEW VOCAB:
Tone: Tone refers to the lightness and darkness shown in artworks, usually categorised into highlights, mid tones and shadows
Lasso and wand tool: Selection tools used in digital software to manipulate small sections of the canvas
Facial features: the eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth, ears, hair and neck
Answer these questions in Google Classroom:
What are the two words that Opie uses to describe the human representation in symbols?
What is one significant feature of Opie's work?
How does Opie represent the different tones in hair?
Create a portrait in the minimalistic style of Julian Opie, this can be a self portrait OR a picture of a celebrity
(It will be easier if your picture has a closed mouth)
Open up Photoshop and follow along with the video.
(if you do not have photoshop installed follow this step by step)
Before you begin, watch this video of Jess explaining the task → Don’t forget to pause the video, do the step and then watch a bit more of the video.
