"Go Putney, Go Putney!" People hitting the ball for six or a home run for their team to win. This is Putney PSSA where kids come together to play sport and have fun with each other and the play feels so electrifying.
At Putney Public we do sports with an association called the Primary Schools Sporting Association (PSSA). It is when people play sports like cricket, softball, Teeball, volleyball and Newcome Ball. Players have to do trials and after that the teachers decide if they make the teams. If you make the team you will play for Putney on Friday and against other schools. If players secure wins for their team and lead them to victory, they’ll play for the championships, go into the semi finals, then the grand final.
You can try-out for summer sports such as tee ball, softball, cricket and Newcombe Ball. PSSA is also not just about winning it's having fun with your teammates. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's about enjoying ourselves and cooperating with teammates.
Students in Stage 3 [which is year 3-6] can try out for Softball,Teebal,Volleyball, Newcombe Ball and cricket. The games in PSSA are held on Fridays. Students in PSSA normally play at Morrison Park, Boronia Park Reserve, and parks around Ryde and NSW.
The coaches in PSSA are Miss Flint, Mr Robb, Mrs Martin and Ms Curtis.
We play PSSA to be competitive and have fun.
Cooper from year 5 complimented Miss Flint that he hadn’t had a better cricket teacher and wished Ms Flint good luck.
Ms Flint said the cricket coach said that the seniors were doing great, they had only lost one game so far. She also complimented the juniors they had just got their first win and were looking for another. And the last thing she said was GO PUTNEY!
Toby from the cricket team said that they were doing fantastic and were sitting 3rd on the ladder.
So It’s been a long journey with twists and turns but now you're all caught up with PSSA. I hope you liked our journey about sport and maybe you will join this fantastic team GO PUTNEY PSSA!!
