Grace and Zayn from Bumblebees.
Today we’ll be stepping into the lives of our new kindergarten students, and discovering what happens to them at Putney Public. Who knows what school might be like for our little kindies?
Starting school can be one of the scariest experiences for kindergarten students. Everyone seems so big and unfamiliar and the environment is noisy and queer. In this article we are going to find out what Term 1 has brought for some of our newest kindergarten students, Grace and Zayn.
We’ll be asking Grace and Zayn who are both Kindergarten students from Bumblebees with Ms Illuzzi questions about how school has been like for them and if everything is going well.
First we asked them what has been their favourite activity they have done at Putney so far. Zayn said “I enjoy playing in the playground with my best friends”. Grace said “I like to play and talk to my new friends”. Zayn and Grace have both made very good friends and will hopefully keep them until the end of school.
Next we asked Grace and Zayn what subject they liked most. They both responded with a cheerful, “I love reading so much!” Ms Illuzzi’s class is very lucky and have been reading several books such as, Kookoo Kookaburra, Bowerbird Blues and everyone's funny, familiar favourite, Thelma the Unicorn.
Our final question for them was if they found anything difficult or scary at school. Grace said “I found it very hard to make friends but eventually I made some great buddies.” Zayn said “sometimes being on the Outback can be scary because of all of the big kids and the balls bouncing around everywhere.” There's always something that can be hard at school, but it's nice to say that even our newest students can overcome them.
It was a great experience meeting Grace and Zayn and we enjoyed hearing all about their school life. Maybe one day our newest students could also be reporters, writing their own Press Gang stories, but for now let’s wave goodbye to our little kindergartens!
