All you can hear are screams not of horrific actions but of pride and joy, people battling for their lives in the water and with deafening chants people are setting records and teams going for 1st place. There is entertainment for ages galore, with younger kids first swimming carnival and year 6s last the action is endless.
The swimming carnival was held on Monday 17 of February 2025 at Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre and was organised by Mrs Martin. We got there by walking from school and the swimming carnival lasted the whole day. We started out with open freestyle then went on with other the races. There were teachers surrounding the pool for safety.
Once we got there we waited for about 30 minutes for the first race to start. The races that were held were freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and relays. PPS were at the swimming carnival for the whole day. Our top swimmers were Filip for 12yr boys, Eva for 12yr girls, Toby for 11yr boys, Aria for 11yr girls, Aidan for Junior boys and Melanie for Junior girls.
We asked Toby, a year 5 student, what was his highlight for the swimming carnival. He answered by saying that during the 100m freestyle race, he got a state time but unfortunately it didn't count.
We also asked Eva, a year 6 student, how long do you practice for? She said that she practices 1 hour a week and that got her the 12 year old swimming champion award.
Overall, this was a spectacular carnival for everyone and we had so much fun at Ryde Aquatic and it was also our year 6s last swimming carnival but they made it their best.
