Want to know about a best selling author?

Well that's Jaqueline Harvey, author of Alice Miranda, Kensy and Max, and lots more. She has written 64 books, and there are some more exciting ones coming out soon. Her best selling book is the first book in the Kensy and Max series.  We interviewed her and found out more about Jacqueline Harvey and her books. We found out lots of interesting information relating to her first book, Alice Miranda at School.

We also found out lots of exciting information relating to her new book The Girl and the Ghost. Her inspiration for writing The Girl and the Ghost was really interesting. She met a prince in a bookshop while she was in France attending her book launch event for a different book that she had written.   

We know that Jacqueline Harvey fans are super excited for the release on 29th April 2025. You can find it at Penguin Books online and we hope that our school librarian, Mrs Fowler will buy some copies for us to read in our school library.

Here are some of the questions and answers that were asked of Jacqueline Harvey:                                                 

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

“I get my ideas from travelling all over the world and visiting new place.”

What is the hardest part about writing a book?

“I think that the hardest part about writing a book is the middle because you have to find a complication that grabs the reader’s interest”

Do you prefer writing by hand or typing on a computer?

“I like both. Sometimes I write by hand when I have an idea and   my notebook is close by. I write on the computer when I don’t have time to rewrite it from my notebook. Sometimes I have a deadline so I just write it on the computer.”

What advice would you give to young writers who want to publish a book one day?

“Read a lot and if you're writing a story and you can’t think of anything to add, don’t end your story in the middle.  Definitely don’t kill off all the characters if an ending doesn’t come to mind!  Ask for feedback from your teachers and  if  they give you feedback on your story always listen to it.”

What makes a good story?

“I think that a good story needs the readers to feel the emotions the characters are feeling and it makes you feel like you know the characters and you are part of the story”.
