After 6 long years at Putney we are finally the rulers of the school. Do you want to know what has happened and what's happening this term for year 6s? We’ve got it all covered for you!
Well first, Year 6s found out about our new classes with the year 5s. If you're still learning their names, it's the Otters, Albatross, Stingrays and Dolphins.
One of the most exciting things about being in Year 6 is meeting our kindergarten buddies. The kindy classes are Bumblebees taught by Miss Illuzzi and Ladybugs taught by Miss Boutros. Year 6s have buddies so that the kindy students can get to know their way around the school and have Year 6 students to look up to. Press Gang Reporter- Eva asked Ruby, a Y6 student, her favourite thing about her buddy Rumi and she said “she’s so cute” which is very true about all the kindies.
While Year 6 may have lots of school work and more responsibility, They also get some privileges and fun. Year 6s got their jackets on Thursday week 9 and were so excited to wear them straight away. Year 6 shirts are coming too - watch this space.
Also the student leaders went to National Young Leaders Day (NYLD) on the 25th March accompanied by Miss Flint. There were 4 speakers Catherine Laga'aia, Thomas Duncan-Watt, Emma McKeon and Anthony "Harries" Carroll. It was a very exciting and interesting day.
Putney had our swimming school carnival this term and year 6 was very excited for their last ever swimming carnival in primary school. The aquatic centre was filled with laughter, cheers and of course water - you can see more on Putney Makes A Splash In 2025.
Finally, in Week 10 Stage 3 had camp and it was very cool searching for gold and staying overnight at the campsite in Bathurst - See more on Stage 3 Explore Heritage And Heights On Camp.
And that’s it for term 1 but don’t worry we have lots more to look forward to in the upcoming exciting 2025!
