YEAR 10-12 NATIONAL SUMMER DRAMA CAMP
Back by popular demand, lose yourself in Sydney’s professional theatre industry this summer with the return of ATYP’s week-long intensive Drama Camp. Participants will attend masterclasses with leading industry professionals including directors, actors and theatre makers from some of the nation’s top theatre companies, and work with an experienced ATYP Teaching Artist to create their own performance piece.
Participants also get the chance to take in TWO shows as a part of the Sydney Festival (shows TBC) as well as dive backstage for a Sydney Festival show.
So how do you feel about broccoli on pizza? How do you feel about your imaginary friend? How do you feel about performing on stage? These holidays we are going to make new memories by diving Inside Out. Getting to know our friends Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger.
This workshop will play with harnessing emotions to portray all kinds of characters and how they can change and tell stories. By the end of the week, you will be able to embody characters driven by different emotions to share in a story with your family and friends... which will be sure to fill them with joy.
It’s a scandal! The school tuckshop is only selling lollies to the senior students. And so begins an “underground” lolly-trading gang. You and your friends have a few goals: distribute the sugar, make money and don’t get snitched on. How will you not get caught by adults and avoid the rule-following goody-two-shoes?
This is some of what will be investigated in our Foundation Commission play for 10-13-year-olds in 2024, The Racket by Michael Louis Kennedy. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to be involved with a brand-new play in the making. At the end of the week perform a show sure to have your friends and family paranoid about their own lolly stashes at home!
From Scar v Mufasa to Matilda v Ms Trunchbel and even Annie v Miss Hannigan, musical theatre is full of rivalries. But which characters are better to play, the heroes... or the villains? Take inspiration from some of your favourite songs then write your own Tony award-winning smash hit!
Break down some classic musical plots, create your own characters and even choreograph some of your very own dance sequences. At the end of the week perform the biggest off, off, off-Broadway battle between good and evil for your family and friends and leave them begging for encore after encore.
We have over 25 different workshop programs happening all over Sydney.
We can't wait to see you these holidays at:
- Dawes Point
- Chippendale
- Darlinghurst
- Haymarket
- Bondi
- and more!
