Student got their groove on by composing movement sequences and combinations in conjunction with skipping ropes. In the space of a few weeks, and after some rigorous rehearsals, students collaboratively planned and performed their creative movement pieces to their class peers. Compositions were required to manipulate the elements of composition: space, time and dynamics.

Convincing someone to invest in an entrepreneurial idea can be a challenge, especially in the health and fitness industry! Year 10 PASS were put to the challenge to create a new fitness or nutrition product that would improve the performance of a chosen Australian population group. Students presented their ideas to the Sharks, a.k.a PDHPE Faculty. Some unique ideas presented are below.
Year 9 created a 14 day mental well being calendar of activities they (and other young people) could implement to enhance their well being.
To integrate knowledge from a variety of Key Learning Areas, Year 8 have worn Heart Rate monitors in recent practical lessons. From the data gathered, students have been calculating averages and percentages of their exercise intensity. This cross-curricular task has encouraged discussion how statisticians are heavily involved in training professional athletes.
Thank you to Carly from 'Carly's Helping Hearts' and her team for coming to NHSPA to provide all Year 7 students with a First Aid session. Students learnt key skills to manage emergency situations, including anaphylaxis and CPR. This session aligned with students PDHPE lessons and will further explore safety at the uncoming Aquatic Safety Swimming Excursion.
Year 7 completed a packed two-day program at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre, where students learnt and practised water entries, a variety of swimming techniques, flotation and rope rescues and much more.
