The Year 8 Ceramics class have been busy sculpting "Wellness Deities" inspired by the work of Thai born, Melbourne based artist Vipoo Srivilasa. He created Deities or little companions during lockdown to keep him company and his ongoing practice includes many figurative images inspired by his heritage.
Students designed and created small figurative sculptures as protectors, companions, superheroes and Deities. Students created their figures using the slab building technique. These were then richly decorated with engraved and joined 3-D features and coloured underglaze patterns.
Many of these sculptures have been exhibited in the NHSPA Gallery on King Street this term.
Students are now busily working on their Personal Interest Project plans for their final practical task this year. These "PIP's" will be a culmination of all the ceramic skills and knowledge they have developed over the year.

The Year 9 Visual Arts classes have been investigating artists who respond to war by analysing artworks and propaganda posters and reflecting on how they can develop influence in their own artmaking. Students have learnt various drawing skills, painting techniques and digital processes to create appropriated artworks that convey serious socio-political messages.
