Mary Brooksbank School is situated in Rosemeadow in south-west Sydney on traditional Dharawal land.
Using recycled cans, CDs, ribbon, and coat hangers, students from Mary Brooksbank School created a beautiful bird scarer to use in their school garden space.
The students used glue and glitter to decorate the cans to make a bird scarer that could catch and reflect a lot of light, making it very effective while also something wonderful to look at.
This has added a great sensory component to the school's garden and the students love it.
This piece was made by students using old fans, a hose, pots and foil.
With the support of the teachers, the students painted fan pieces, measured and cut the hose, then drew the shapes of leaves before cutting and painting them.
The students took a lot of time and consideration to arrange and place the objects on the fence and loved talking about the different plant parts along the way!
All the students in the school loved seeing and interacting with this beautiful work which has grown everyone's engagement with our garden and environment!
In the middle of winter there weren't many flowers around the school, so this class from Mary Brooksbank School made their own flowers out of old plastic bottles, wire coat hangers and fabric.
The students had so much fun cutting, gluing, decorating and painting these.
They also chose the best place they could place them in the school, right by their classroom window.
Their beautiful flowers greeted them every day and encouraged them to learn more about plants and the environment.
