Chalmers Road School is situated in Strathfield in metropolitan Sydney on traditional Wangal land.
The students from Chalmers Road School explored objects found in their dance classes during Term 2 of 2021.
The objects found include things that roll, shake, twist, stretch, scrunch, rip, float, fly and bounce.
Many happy and inquisitive faces were seen when finding these objects and this project encouraged the students to move, connect, laugh and stir up their groovy dance bodies.

Chalmers Road School
Duration: 01:12Take a look at the amazing artworks students from Chalmers Road School have created and read the process they used to come up with these creative and imaginative artworks using found objects.
Students explored their school environment and used the frottage art technique to collect rubbings of textures from objects found in the playground such as tree trunks, table surfaces, leaves and pathways.
The paper rubbings of textures found were cut into shapes of the playground objects.
The students then arranged the objects to create a collage landscape.
A wash of blue was added using a wax resist technique to use colour to add unity to the image.
Inspired by the work of Lee Krasner, students used found scraps of paper and an old tennis ball to see how shapes and drawing could be used to create a dynamic composition.
This student created the collage from torn and glued paper shapes; it was placed in a tray with an old tennis ball dipped in black paint.
The artist manipulated the tray to draw the black pattern over the collage and complete the image.
